According to forecasts, the south of the country and the Balearic Islands are set to see the highest of temperatures. The heatwave hit the country today but will intensify over the next few days forecasters have stated. Such is the searing heat expected in the country, Spain’s State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) warned of “intense” heat.
According to the forecaster, the mercury will exceed 35C (95F) in the Guadalquivir valley although many areas across the country will temperatures above 30C (86F).
They said: “Maximum temperatures on the rise in most of the country, although they could only exceed 35 degrees in the Guadalquivir valley.”
Graphs from fellow forecaster, WXCharts also show large areas of Spain exceeding 30C today.
In the south, Seville saw the mercury increase to 35C while the east coast also saw the mercury rise to 33C (91.4F).
Even in the far north of the country, temperatures were recorded at 30C due to the heatwave.
Tomorrow, temperatures are expected to intensify in the south of Spain with WXCharts showing levels reaching 38C in Seville.
For large parts of the south, however, the mercury will reach an average of 33C.
On Thursday, the charts from the forecaster turn black as the heatwave reaches a peak.

Due to the intense heat, temperatures for multiple areas are expected to rise to reach 38C as of 3pm.
As the day progresses, however, even parts of northern Spain are expected to reach levels of 34C.
In the south, Seville may reach a high of 39C while Madrid will also experience 35C heat.
These high temperatures come as a heatwave was reported across large parts of Europe.

On Monday, forecasters revealed the temperatures could be heading towards record levels with Greece expected to reach 48C (118.4F).
Turkey, Italy and Finland have also experienced wildfires due to the high temperatures.
Such were the severe fires in Turkey, the EU has confirmed it will send three fire planes to the country.
Temperatures also hit 44C (111.2F) in Greece’s “death valley” with some fearing further fires later this week.
Christos Zerefos, a professor of atmospheric physics, told local media: “By the end of the week, when the usual August winds resume, then the risk of fires will be even greater.
“Everything will be dried and ready to ignite.”
