Human remains have been discovered in a garden after being dug up by builders just 20 miles from the notorious "House of Horrors" owned by notorious serial killersRose and Fred West.

Forensic tents have been erected on the domestic construction site after the horrifying find by workers.

Police are currently investigating the origin of the remains and enquires remain ongoing.

There is so far nothing to suggest the remains are connected to the infamous serial killers.

But local residents claim there has been "inevitable rumours" about how the find could be in someway related to the murderers.

Aerial pictures taken today are reminiscent of when Gloucestershire Police excavated a cafe cellar earlier this year where 15-year-old Mary Bastholm was believed to be buried 50 years ago.

No human remains were found at the two-week dig.

The latest scene in Kemble, Gloucestershire, has been guarded by officers as the investigation continues.

The scene is only visible from the sky as trees, fences and properties block the view from the ground.

Aerial photographs reveal crime scene tape on the entrance to the garden area, where builders have began to dig into the ground to lay slabs.

One local resident, who wished not to be named, said they were already aware of rumours going around that the discovery could be linked with the West's notorious murder spree.

They said: "I didn't even know it was happening until other parents were talking about it on the playground this morning.

"I think the reason for the crime scene is being kept very quiet at the moment.

"Whenever there's a big crime scene in Gloucestershire, everybody thinks about Fred and Rose [West].

"Obviously there's nothing to say it is one of their victims, but who knows how many there were and where they could be hidden."

Gloucestershire Constabulary has confirmed human bones were found on site but have not confirmed who they belonged to.

A spokesperson said: "Police received a report that human bones were discovered by a builder working at a property in Kemble last Thursday (4 November).

"Officers remain at the scene and inquiries are continuing."

Rose West, 67, is currently serving her full-life tariff in HMP New Hall, West Yorkshire. Her husband killed himself on New Year's Day in 1995 as he awaited trial for his sickening crimes.

The pair murdered at least 12 girls and young women in Gloucestershire between 1967 and 1987.
