Loveland skier dies after fall in Rocky Mountain National Park
A Loveland man died Sunday after sliding on a snowfield into rocks on Sundance Mountain in Rocky Mountain National Park, according to a news release.
The 68-year-old, whose name will be released once next of kin is notified, was skiing alone Sunday morning when he slid 400 to 500 feet. He was located between Trail Ridge Road and Old Fall River Road.
Witnesses to the fall contacted park officials and rendered aid. The skier, who was wearing a helmet, died from his injuries. The man’s body was transported to the Larimer County Coroner/Medical Examiner’s Office.
