Meghan Markle slammed by brother for ‘griping’ and not ‘doing her job’ as royal
Meghan Markle's brother has slammed the Duchess of Sussex for 'griping' during her time as a working royal and urged her to 'do her job'.
Thomas Markle Jr, 55 and currently a star on Australia's Big Brother VIP, launched the rant to other housemates when discussing Meghan's bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey.
Meghan made a number of claims during the interview which aired in March, including that she "didn't want to be alive" due to mental health problems she suffered when in the UK with Prince Harry.
Now, Thomas has revealed that he had very little sympathy for Meghan's plight.
"She kind of knew what she was getting into when she went into it," he said.
"If you got a job and you got paid $4 million salary a year to bow and curtsy and shake hands and take pictures and do some charity work… it’s about the highest pedestal you can get to in life.
"So do your job and don’t gripe about it."
In the same tirade, Thomas also said that he did not "100% buy" Meghan's claim that she struggled with her mental health.
His comments didn't go down too well with his fellow housemates.
Married At First Sight star Jessika Power said in response: "It's so much harder than that.
"Sorry, didn’t like that.
"Raise your hands to see if Tom goes first eviction," she joked before putting her hand in the air.
Actor Bernard Curry said plainly after the interview: "That was brutal!"
The shocking claims aren't the first that Thomas has made about his half-sister in recent days.
Speaking to New Idea, he said that Meghan has the "personality and that determination and drive" to run for president of the US, adding that it "wouldn't surprise" him if she did.
"I just know, whatever endeavour she endures and puts her hands on, she will do good things," he said.
"I wish her the best of luck, but absolutely if that's what she's going to put her sights on, she'll go for it."
