Melania Trump savagely mocked on social media over plagiarism claims
A speech at the 2016 Republican National Convention contained a section which was nearly identical to a section of Michelle Obama’s speech at the 2008 Democratic national convention. Staff writer Meredith McIver took responsibility and apologised over the issue. After the US Space Force logo was noted for its similarity to Star Trek’s Starfleet Command, Twitter users joked Mrs Trump was involved with its creation.
One user wrote: “Melania Trump’s hand is noticeable.”
Another said: “Maybe Melania got to design it just like when she wrote her convention speech.”
Yet another said tweeted: “First Melania copies a speech, now Trump uses the Star Trek logo for space force.”
Another joked: “I hear Melania came up with the design.”
Whilst yet another said: “How much you want to bet Melania did this?”
The United States Space Force is the space operations service branch of the US Armed Forces.
In her 2016 speech Mrs Trump said: “From a young age, my parents impressed on me the values that you work hard for what you want in life; that your word is your bond and you do what you say and keep your promise; that you treat people with respect.
“They taught and showed me values and morals in their daily life.
“That is a lesson that I continue to pass along to our son, and we need to pass those lessons on to the many generations to follow.”
She added: “Because we want our children in this nation to know that the only limit to your achievements is the strength of your dreams and your willingness to work for them.”
Mrs Obama had previously said: “Barack and I were raised with so many of the same values: that you work hard for what you want in life; that your word is your and and you do what what you say you’re going to do; that you treat people with dignity and respect, even if you don’t know them, and even if you don’t agree with them.
“And Barack and I set out to build lives guided by these values, and pass them on to he next generation.

At Donald Trump’s inauguration, some pointed out Mrs Trump’s dress, whilst in a different colour, had a striking resemblance to a pink one previously worn by Jackie Kennedy.
In 2018, a booklet released to promote her Be Best campaign hit the headlines for a resemblance to a document released under the Barack Obama administration.
It was reported at the time only minor changes appeared to have been made from a previous Federal Trade Commission booklet in 2014 under the title ’Net Cetera – Chatting with Kids About Being Online’.
At the time, The Guardian reported only minor changes had been made to the front cover.
The booklet available on the White House website initially said: “Parents, click here to read Talking with Kids about Being Online, a booklet by Melania Trump and the Federal Trade Commission.”
The website was changed to describe the booklet as “a Federal Trade Commission booklet, promoted by First Lady Melania Trump”.
A White House official explained: “There seemed to be confusion so we wanted to be clear”.
Mrs Trump’s office released a statement saying: “Despite providing countless outlets with ample background, information, and on-the-record comments from the FTC, some media have chosen to take a day meant to promote kindness and positive efforts on behalf of children, to instead lob baseless accusations towards the First Lady and her new initiatives.”
