Wills and Kate moving to Windsor a ‘slap in the face’ for Sussexes, warns expert
Any royal plan to move the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to Windsor could have a huge impact on the Firm's relationship with Harry and Meghan, one Royal commentator predicted.
Prince William and Kate Middleton are said to be in discussions with the Queen over a relocation to Windsor Castle, the home that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle had their sights set on before being snubbed.
Royal sources allege that the Sussexes wanted the residence for themselves after the couple married, but that the Queen decided that Frogmore Cottage would be more appropriate.
At the time, Times royal correspondent Roya Nikkah reported that: "The couple are understood to have set their hearts at first on Windsor Castle, and are believed to have asked the Queen if living quarters could be made available after their marriage.
"The Queen politely but firmly suggested Frogmore Cottage on the Windsor estate."
Royal author Hugo Vickers added: "There are empty bedrooms and suites in the private apartments which the Sussexes may have had their eye on, or perhaps some former living quarters in the castle grounds converted into other things.
"But I can see how it might not be entirely appropriate to have a young family living there."

Now there are reports that William and Kate may be given the 1000-room castle, in a move that could see the relationship between Harry and the royals deteriorate further.
A royal source told Vanity Fair: "William and Kate have been talking to their close friends about leaving Kensington Palace where they feel very overlooked.
"[They] are very seriously considering a move to Windsor, and it has been discussed with the Queen. There are options at Windsor Castle, which is vast, and being close to the Queen, who is 95, makes sense to the family."

There are some things that make sense about the proposed move. Kate would be less than an hour drive away from her parents at Bucklebury Manor in Berkshire, and not too far from sister Pippa in Chelsea.
The royal source also thinks that the move signifies the sad fact that the royal household are preparing for life after Elizabeth II.
They said: "Since Prince Philip’s death, the future of the monarchy is a topic of conversation. Plans are being drawn up for the next reign and the Cambridges making a move to Windsor is one of those plans."
